That's an old tradition in Switzerland even though they mostly used it as a coffee additive rather than a replacement. I never tried something like this pure. I think nowadays this brand only still exists because some old folks still use it.

I like #coffee too much and very selectively only believe studies which show that coffee is healthy.

Chicorie (italian: cicoria) has been in use in Italy during the Autarchism days back in the 1920s, as a replacement for coffee. I don't think I have ever tried it, but maybe I did in the past and forgot :)
